WHO WE ARE?

The Public Foundation Common Cause is a non-profit organization established in 2019 to monitor elections at different levels in the Kyrgyz Republic, implement civic education activities, conduct public opinion research, and promote citizen participation in governance processes.

The Foundation has signed the ‘Declaration of Global Principles for Nonpartisan Election Observation’ which outlines internationally recognized standards for non-partisan observation of the electoral process. The Declaration has been signed by 251 organizations in 89 countries worldwide.

Even though the Foundation was recently established, it has built a nation-wide network through trainings for build and advance skills and competences to conduct election observation in a professional manner. 

OUR MISSION AND VISION

The Foundation's mission is to help create opportunities for citizens to influence the quality of their decisions in the country through participation, discourse, and public control.

The vision of the Foundation is a society in which citizens are equal members of society who participate in decision-making at all levels and recognize their importance in democratic processes.

WHAT DO WE DO?

The activities of “Common Cause” are aimed at building effective interaction between the government and the citizens through dialogue, monitoring of important political processes, participation in decision-making and promotion of transparency, in order to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, and joint actions for the sustainable democratic development of the country.

The "Nonpartisan Domestic Observation of the 2021 Early Presidential Elections in the Kyrgyz Republic” project is implemented by the Public Foundation "Common Cause". The project encompasses a wide range of activities including voter education, public research, and election-monitoring.

The organization will monitor all stages of the election process including the pre-election, election day and post-election procedures and processes. The purpose of election monitoring is to provide citizens and electoral stakeholders with a professional, non-partisan and timely assessment about compliance with international standards and domestic legislation, including information about potential violations, and voter turnout.
