BISHKEK, 21 October 2021 - The Public Foundation "Common Cause" (hereinafter - the Fund) carries out independent observation of the electoral processes in the Kyrgyz Republic.
Currently, the Foundation is concerned about recurring situations that are published in the media and social networks.
In particular, there are accusations against certain candidates for vote-buying, as well as for campaigning appeals during meetings with potential candidates.
Such incidents undermine the confidence of citizens in the rule of law and fair approaches in pre-election processes, which may affect voters' distrust of the results of the upcoming elections and negatively affect the image of the Kyrgyz Republic in the eyes of the world community.
Mistrust in the upcoming elections may arise in society if already at this stage there are prerequisites for gross violations of the electoral legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic.
All participants in the electoral process must draw conclusions from the elections of deputies of the Zhogorku Kenesh that took place on October 4, 2020 and make every effort to prevent a repetition of the scenarios on October 5 and 6, 2020.
The Fund invokes:
Holding free and fair elections in full compliance with the Constitution and legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic is a guarantee of the constitutional provision that the people of Kyrgyzstan are the bearers of sovereignty and the only source of state power in the Kyrgyz Republic, which exercises its power directly in elections and referendums.
