How to intensify the participation of young people in decision-making was discussed in Bishkek at the Electoral Rights Fest discussion platform

Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh Dastan Bekeshev and Aisuluu Mamashova, Director of the General Cause Foundation Aida Suyundueva and Doctor of Law, Professor of the International University in Central Asia Andrey Ten spoke about their own experience of civic activism, human rights, suffrage, and gender equality.

Aida Suyundueva noted the importance of youth participation in the electoral process.

"A very large part of the electorate that doesn't vote is young people aged 18 to 25. The importance of participating in elections must be conveyed to it. Each of us, as a citizen of this country, should study the programs of political parties, candidates that political parties nominate as future deputies. And then follow the work of politicians who come through elected institutions of power. Young people are the people who will make decisions tomorrow. Today, maybe they're disappointed in politics, they don't think their opinion plays any role. But in fact, each person can influence, 2-3 votes can change the deal at the polling station. It is important that young people understand this and take an active part in the parliamentary elections," said the director of Common Cause Public Foundation.
